Photo-etched seat belts for American aircraft in 1:72 scale are an accessory to a model, not a kit. They replace missing belts, or belts cast into the seat, with thin metal parts that can be shaped.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched accessory from the Czech company Brengun. The contents are metal belts for the cockpits of American aircraft, which in 1:72 scale go where a kit offers only coarse relief, or does not deal with belts at all. It is not a model or a kit but a more universal detail usable on several types.
The cockpit of a model is typically seen only from above through the glazing, and the eye finds the seat first. An empty seat with no belts looks unfinished, while a plastic seat with belts cast in relief looks flat. A photo-etched belt is a few hundredths of a millimeter thick, it can be bent, draped over the edge of a seat and left to hang loose, so the impression of soft fabric is created. That is a detail that carries a disproportionately large part of the final impression on a finished model.
Separate the parts with a scalpel and, before bending, anneal them by brief warming over a flame so that they soften and can be shaped into a natural sag. Fine-tune the shape with a round tool, for instance the blunt end of a drill bit. Degrease the metal, spray it with a primer and paint it; the buckles can then be brought out with a dry brush or a dark glaze. It is bonded with super glue in a minute amount. Fit the belts only after the seat and the interior have been painted.
The accessory is supplied on its own and unpainted. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
