1:72 USN Deck Crew is a set of figures of US Navy deck crew in 1:72 scale from Offset Scale Models — an accessory for a scene on the deck of an aircraft carrier.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set 1:72 USN Deck Crew contains figures of US Navy deck crew for dioramas and display cases in 1:72 scale. Offset Scale Models has a matching range of accessories on this theme — tractors, tie-downs and other small items for the deck — so the figures can be used as part of a larger scene rather than just as an isolated detail. Check the exact number of figures and their poses on the box.
Work on the flight deck is divided among several specialties — directing aircraft, operating the catapults and the arrester wires, refueling, ordnance, technicians and safety supervision. So that the crews can tell one another apart even in the noise and the propeller wash, a system of color-coded vests and helmets by role has long been used. It is exactly this color code that makes a deck scene so attractive visually, and it is the main reason figures of deck crew are bought for a display case.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and cut the casting blocks off with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw; protect your airways when sanding resin. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Work from a base through a saturated covering tone on the vest to a light accentuation of the folds; a deck scene suits a cleaner rendering with discreet dirt on boots and knees. Lay the figures out dry before gluing them, so that their positions relative to each other make sense against the model of the aircraft.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. The paints, glue and the model of the aircraft are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
