This is a classic injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Japanese maker Hasegawa. The version is designated VF-19EF/A Isamu Special and the edition is marked Macross Frontier. The subject is a fictional variable fighter, that is a machine which does not exist in reality but is worked out technically like an aircraft: it has a cockpit with a canopy, landing gear, underwing pylons and tail surfaces.
Hasegawa is among the brands with traditionally cleanly molded parts and fine engraved panel lines, which helps a great deal with glossy and strongly colored schemes. A kit of this kind consists of ordinary plastic sprues and is built just like a model of a real aircraft. The particular contents of the package, the number of sprues and the number of schemes are given in the instructions and on the box. The 1:72 scale of this range matches the usual format.
Cut the parts off with sprue nippers a short distance from the part and level the remaining stub with a file so that the plastic does not chip at the edge. Glue with a thin plastic cement that is drawn into the seam by capillary action. Finish and paint the cockpit and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage. Mask the canopy with strips of tape or with a ready-made mask. With strongly colored schemes the base is everything: a white or light gray primer evens out the ground and only on that do the covering colors sit as they should. Spray a gloss coat before the decals and, once it has dried, go over it with a matte or semi-matte coat to taste.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
