1:72 WWI German team MG 08/15 is a set of a German machine gun crew from the First World War for trench scenes in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set relates to the First World War and represents a German machine gun crew with the MG 08/15 weapon. The theme of the Great War is represented far more sparsely in a small scale than the conflict that followed, so this item covers a gap that builders of trench scenes know well. Behind the set stands White Stork Miniatures.
The MG 08/15 came about as a lightened version of the heavy machine gun, so that a smaller group of men could handle it and so that it could be carried along with advancing infantry. It still remained heavy and needed several people: a gunner, a loader and ammunition carriers. It is exactly that division of roles that gives the figures in the set their purpose and makes it possible to build a believable firing position. In a scene it therefore pays to set the figures out so that each of them has a task, rather than merely standing side by side.
A trench scene lives off its surfaces. The coarse cloth of the uniform takes a matte shade with no sheen, while the leather parts should be lightly brought out instead. Mud on the knees, the boots and the underside of the weapon ties the figures to the terrain better than any extra detail. A position reads more convincingly when the figures are turned toward one point rather than scattered randomly over the area.
A finished paint job is not included.
