A set of photo-etched metal parts for a model of the Soviet fighter Yak-9D in 1:72 scale. It adds the detail that is only suggested in plastic at a small scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Yak-9 was among the most widespread Soviet fighters of the Second World War. It was a single-engine monoplane of mixed construction, simple to build and to maintain in field conditions. The version designated D carried a greater fuel load and so gained a longer range, which was useful when escorting attack aircraft and when moving behind a rapidly changing front.
The fret carries metal elements produced by photochemical etching. Their thickness is counted in tenths of a millimeter, so they manage shapes that would come out too robust in plastic; in 1:72 scale this difference is the most visible. Which parts the set contains and where on the model they belong is given in the manufacturer's instructions, because the name itself does not specify the extent.
Work on a hard surface and cut the parts out of the fret rather than tearing them. Make the bend over a sharp edge and hold the part along its whole length, otherwise it will twist. Use super glue in a tiny amount for bonding, ideally applied with the tip of a toothpick. Wash and degrease the metal before painting and give it a base coat; without one the paint will rub off the edges even during assembly.
The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
