A set of die-cut self-adhesive masks, Peewit 1:72 Zlin Z-242L, for the large-area cockpit glazing of the Czech trainer aircraft. A modeling accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Die-cut self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Peewit for a model of the Zlin Z-242L trainer and aerobatic aircraft in 1:72 scale. The set covers the glazed areas during spraying, so the framing of the cockpit comes out sharp and clean. It is not a kit but an accessory for building the model.
The masks are cut from thin low-tack kabuki-type tape. The material shapes easily over convex surfaces, holds even on small pieces and as a rule leaves no glue once taken off. The shapes are peeled off the backing with tweezers and stuck onto degreased, dry glass.
The Z-242L is a two-seat all-metal low-wing monoplane with a large, strongly domed canopy that forms a substantial part of the silhouette of the fuselage. The area of glass is large compared with the frame, so even a small mistake in drawing it out by hand is conspicuous on the finished model. The masks moreover help with the typically striking finishes of civil and school machines, where the frame has to follow on exactly from the colored stripes on the fuselage.
On a large glazed area, stick the perimeter pieces down first and only then fill the center in, or cover the large area with a piece of ordinary masking tape. Before spraying, seal the edges with a thin coat of clear varnish. Spray thin coats, and with sharp color transitions on the fuselage plan the order of the shades beforehand, so that masking does not have to be repeated needlessly.
The package contains only masks. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
