A decal sheet in 1:72 scale for a model of the two-seat Zlin Z-42 trainer.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Zlin Z-42 is an all-metal two-seat training and aerobatic aircraft built at Otrokovice. It has a low-wing layout, a piston engine, fixed tricycle landing gear and two seats side by side. It was precisely the cockpit layout that made it a practical machine for training, with the instructor sitting next to the student. It was flown in flying clubs for many years and is one of the best-known Czech sport aircraft.
The decals in 1:72 scale are intended for a model of the Zlin Z-42 and add the markings that cannot be reliably painted onto the plastic. The sheet is also useful for replacing the original decals from a kit if they have yellowed or fallen apart with age.
The surface under the decal has to be smooth and glossy, otherwise air is trapped under the film and a whitish frame appears around the edges. Cut the motif out close to the edge, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it starts to slide on the paper. Moisten the spot on the model, slide the decal off the paper and guide it into place with a brush. Blot the excess water with a piece of paper towel and press the decal down onto the surface. On broken-up surfaces a decal softener helps, as it softens the film and pulls it into the recesses. Once everything is thoroughly dry, coat the model so that the decal edges disappear and the level of gloss is the same over the whole surface.
For builders of civil and sport aircraft in 1:72 scale. The model, paints, varnish and decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
