A 1:72 masking set for the cockpit canopy of the Zlin Z-50 aerobatic aircraft is an accessory to a kit you have already bought, not a model. The self-adhesive masks prepare the glazing for spraying the frames.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a model of the aircraft but a set of self-adhesive masks that a modeler obtains to go with a plastic kit. The masks are cut to the shape of the frames of the cockpit glazing and replace the slow business of cutting masking tape on the part itself. The accessory is made by Brengun of the Czech Republic.
The Zlin Z-50 is a Czech single-seat aerobatic aircraft with a large glazed cockpit and pronounced framing. That is exactly why masking pays off on it: the frames are conspicuous on a model and an irregular paint edge shows at once.
First wash and degrease the cockpit. Place the masks with tweezers, starting with the largest areas and adding the smaller ones gradually. Once they are on, run a wooden stick along the edges so that no edge is left lifted anywhere. Spray the interior shade first and the top airframe color once that has dried. On aerobatic machines with bold color schemes it pays to spray in thin coats so that no ridge forms under the edge of the mask. Lift the masks soon after the last coat, and the edge will then stay sharp. If paint does seep under the edge, scrape the excess off carefully with a wooden toothpick, which will not scratch the glazing.
Cutting tape by hand on broken-up glazing takes more time than the spraying itself and the edge tends to be irregular. Pre-cut masks hold the same width of frame along its whole length, so the cockpit looks clean even from close up.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
