The ZSU-23-4 is a Soviet self-propelled anti-aircraft system that was built on a tracked chassis and entered service in the 1960s. It carries four 23 mm automatic cannons mounted in a common rotating turret and its own radar for finding and tracking a target, so it controls its own fire and needs no other vehicle for it. Its main task was defense against low-flying targets, but it very quickly turned out that the dense fire of four barrels is devastating against ground targets as well. The machine spread to a number of armies and became one of the best-known anti-aircraft weapons of its day. The V1 designation distinguishes one of its production forms.
In this scale the model fits in the palm of your hand and does not take up much room in a cabinet, which is an advantage with military equipment when you want to build a whole group of vehicles. At the same time it means small parts: the radar antenna, the barrels and the fittings on the hull are among the finest parts of the build. Have a sharp blade, tweezers and good light ready.
First free the parts of excess material and traces of manufacture, sand the mating surfaces and try the assembly dry. Leave the turret with the barrels separate until spraying if you can, as you will reach it better. A single-color green finish on the model benefits from being brought to life: a lighter center on the large surfaces, darker corners and finally fine dust on the running gear.
Paints, glue and filler are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
