A set of four acrylic colors for German armor of the end of the war and of the hypothetical year 1946: dark yellow, two tones of reseda green and red brown.
Responsibility details are not available.
The last German camouflage scheme came out of necessity. The factories stopped keeping up with the base coat and vehicles left with a dark yellow layer onto which the crews applied green and brown stripes in the field, with a broom, a rag or an airbrush run off a compressor. It is from this practice that the whole group of so-called 1946 machines comes: prototypes and projects that never reached series production but that modelers build in the colors they would have been given at the time.
According to the description of the set there are four colors: a dark yellow in a variant tone, two reseda greens differing in saturation, and a red brown. The pair of greens is the key to the whole set, because the real finishes differed in shade according to the maker of the paste and according to what it was thinned with. When both tones meet in one scheme, the camouflage stops looking like a color chart and starts looking like the work of a field workshop.
A sharp boundary between areas is the exception on this equipment, not the rule. Apply the paint in thin freehand passes, therefore, and leave the edges blurred. Once dry, a gloss coat comes under the markings and only after that the traces of service. Do the final knock-back to matte in a thin film and preferably in two passes: a heavy matte coat levels the differences between the areas into one tone and all the work with shades is lost in it. It also pays to let every pass cure properly, because a fresh acrylic coat pulls away under masking tape even after several hours.
