22nd SS Volunteer Cavalry Division - Maria Theresia Plaque 25mm is a badge plaque for a diorama. It marks a base or a display case and is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A diorama accessory, not a model. The plaque carries the badge of the cavalry formation given in the name and serves to mark a base, a plinth or a shelf in a display case permanently. Thanks to it a collector can tell which unit a scene claims even years later, when he no longer remembers the details. The figure 25 mm is given in the name; the material, the number of pieces and the execution cannot be derived from the name.
The 22nd SS Volunteer Cavalry Division came about in 1944 on Hungarian territory and was filled up from Hungarian personnel and from the German-speaking population there. The honor title refers to the Empress Maria Theresa. As one of the few cavalry formations of its time it was committed in the final phase of the war, and its fate is bound up with the siege of Budapest at the turn of 1944 and 1945, where it was essentially destroyed.
A cavalry scene tends to be taller than it is wide, so the plaque suits the longer side of a base rather than a place under a horse's legs, where shadow would cover it. Fit it only once the terrain is finished, so that scattered static grass does not get onto it. A small trick at the end: a darker ground around the plaque visually enlarges it, while a light one cuts it down.
