A cellulose thinner in a 30 ml package for thinning nitrocellulose modeling paints and lacquers and for cleaning the tools after work.
Responsibility details are not available.
A cellulose thinner belongs with nitrocellulose paints and lacquers. It lowers their consistency to the measure that an airbrush atomizes into an even cone, and at the same time it affects how fast the paint dries, that is whether it lands on the model still wet and flows out or sets up into a grain on the way. It is also used to flush the airbrush through and to clean the tools after work with paints of the same line. The package has a volume of 30 ml, so it suits thinning paint for the airbrush rather than washing larger parts.
The thinning ratio depends on the particular paint, on the air pressure and on the size of the nozzle, so start from the instructions of the maker of the paint. Add the thinner a little at a time, stir the paint each time and check the consistency with a test spray onto paper. Spray in thin layers with a pause, so that the solvent has time to evaporate. A heavy wet layer runs and brings out every unevenness. Flush the airbrush through before the paint dries in it.
A cellulose thinner is aggressive toward bare polystyrene and toward some layers under a finish, so on a model it is safer to have a proper primer. Try the effect out beforehand in a hidden place or on an offcut. Work in a well-ventilated room and with respiratory protection, store the container closed, out of the reach of children and away from open flame.
For modelers who spray with nitrocellulose paints and lacquers. The package contains 30 ml of thinner, and the paints, the airbrush and the tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
