About product

6 SYNTHETIC ANGLE BRUSH — angled modeling brush size 6 (AMMO of Mig Jimenez)

For the record: this is a modeling brush, not a kit. This brush from AMMO of Mig Jimenez has its filaments cut at an angle — the tip is neither flat nor pointed but cut to a slant. Size 6, with synthetic springy filament.

What the angled shape adds

The angled cut gives you two tools in one. Stand the brush on its sharp tip and it draws a surprisingly clean line and reaches right into a corner. Lay it on its face and it covers like a flat brush. The angle also follows the shapes of a model — it seats along an edge and into the corner of a superstructure, where a flat-cut brush cannot reach without running over. The manufacturer describes it in exactly these terms: it adapts to demanding angles, corners and recesses of a model, and its edge can draw finer lines as well.

What it cannot do: it is not a liner. You will not draw a long continuous hairline along the whole fuselage with it — a liner with long bristles is the tool for that.

Use

  • Dry-brushing — the angled tip sits on an edge naturally; pick up a little paint, wipe it off on paper and run it lightly over edges and raised detail.
  • Corners, angles and recesses — superstructures, interiors, the area around a turret or an engine.
  • Work along edges and rims: the edge of the brush leads the stroke, the face covers.
  • Streaking on vertical surfaces — you lay the paint on at the top and pull it downward.
  • Pigments — applying and blending dust and mud into seams, around rivets and around the running gear.

Synthetic filament and paint chemistry

The manufacturer describes the filament as solvent-resistant and usable with every type of paint — acrylics, enamels and oils. For weathering that is a condition: washes, filters and oil streaks all rest on thinners that would gradually dry out natural hair until it broke.

Care of the brush

  • Clean it immediately after use with the thinner matching the paint you used.
  • Do not store it tip down in thinner — the angled cut bends and stops cutting a clean line.
  • Do not press on the filaments even when dry-brushing, or you will flatten the angle out.
  • Dry it lying flat or with the filaments upward.

Who it is for

For modelers of military vehicles and dioramas who need one brush for dry-brushing, corners, edges and pigments. For figure painters as a tool for bringing out edges and folds.

Paints, thinners and the model are not included in the package. When working with thinners, varnishes and loose pigments, ventilate the room, do not breathe in the dust and protect your skin.

FAQ

The angled cut works with the edge and the face at the same time. With the edge you reach into a corner and draw a crisper line, while the face covers. A flat-cut brush will not seat so cleanly into corners and along edges.

Yes, that is one of its main jobs. The angled tip sits naturally on the edge of a part. Pick up a little paint, wipe the excess off on paper and run it lightly over edges and raised detail.

No, it is not built for that. It will manage a short continuous stroke with the edge, but only a liner with long bristles will make a long hairline in one stroke.

Yes. The manufacturer describes the filament as solvent-resistant and usable with acrylics, enamels and oils, so it suits washes, filters, streaking and pigments.
