A package of thirty self-adhesive abrasive strips measuring 90 x 22 mm in 600 grit. It is not a tool but a consumable: the paper is cut to a shape that matches the DSPIAE sanding tools of the AT-MA range, so measuring and cutting are done away with.

Where 600 grit lies in the sequence

Six hundred is a transitional value. Coarser abrasives take putty off and true a seam up, but leave scratches behind; 600 grit erases them and brings the surface to a state where primer can be sprayed without the marks of sanding standing out of it. Anyone going on to a high gloss then works through still finer steps after it. Using it as the first abrasive on coarse putty does not earn its place, as it comes away slowly and clogs. Conversely, trying to polish straight after coarse paper is the surest road to the scratches appearing under the paint.

How to handle the refill

• Before sticking it on, clean the backing of the remains of old adhesive and of abrasive slurry.
• Press the strip down along its whole length, as an air bubble under the paper causes uneven removal.
• Change a clogged strip, because overworked paper heats plastic rather than sanding it.
• Store the package dry, as damp lowers the grip of the adhesive layer.

Who the refill is for

It is aimed at modelers who already use the matching DSPIAE sanding tools and are topping up the consumables for them. If you have a sanding board of a different shape, check that the strip fits dimensionally.

Do not breathe the abrasive dust, ventilate the bench and use a respirator for longer dry work.
