Fotokronika letounu firmy Heinkel (A photo chronicle of Heinkel aircraft) is an illustrated series devoted to the machines of one of the best known German aircraft factories. This is its second volume. As the title suggests, the weight lies in the photographs: period shots show the aircraft as they really looked, that is, with worn surfaces, with service lettering, with traces of repairs and in the setting where they served. The author is V. Koos and the publication was issued by Jakab.
The factory carried the name of its founder, Ernst Heinkel, and its machines were among the most notable aircraft of their day. It produced the twin-engine He 111 bomber with its characteristic glazed nose, built in many forms throughout the war, and also the He 178, the first aircraft in the world to fly with a jet engine. It is precisely the breadth and the variety of the output that makes a photographic chronicle rewarding reading.
The publication suits modelers looking for support for a build: a period photograph is the most reliable source for shades, markings, wear and for the small details that a kit simplifies. Collectors of aviation literature will appreciate it too, as will readers interested in the development of aviation regardless of whether they are building anything. The second volume follows on from the first, but it can also be read on its own.
The publication is supplied on its own. Kits, paints and modeling materials are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
