The Soryu class submarine 1:144 from Trumpeter is a plastic kit of a modern Japanese diesel-electric attack submarine of the Maritime Self-Defense Force.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit captures the modern Japanese Soryu class attack submarine operated by the Maritime Self-Defense Force. The model is less demanding to build and suits less experienced builders of ships and submarines as well. The finished hull reaches a length of about 58 cm, so it makes a striking piece for a display case. A display base is included.
The Soryu class is a series of non-nuclear attack submarines of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force; the first boats entered service around the end of the first decade of this century. The submarines use diesel-electric propulsion completed by an air-independent system that lets them stay submerged longer. The armament consists of torpedoes and anti-ship guided missiles. They are among the most modern conventionally powered submarines of their time.
On submarines the hull is made up of an upper and a lower half, so sand the joints carefully until the seam lines disappear. Glue the plastic with thin model cement. Apply a primer; the typical finish is a dark, almost black hull shade with a subtle difference between the upper and the lower part. Add the fine navigation markings with the decals; the finished model shows well on the stand supplied.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
