Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic set of Soviet tank crewmen of the Second World War in 1:16 scale from Trumpeter. These are figures, not a vehicle kit. For an adult figure the 1:16 scale corresponds to a height of roughly one hundred and ten millimeters, so on a finished figure the face, the cut of the overalls and the small items of gear that are only suggested in smaller scales all stand out.
You recognize Soviet tank crews at first glance by the padded helmet with its lengthwise ribs and ear flaps. It protected the head against knocks in the cramped fighting compartment and carried the headphones of the intercom. A one-piece coverall over the uniform went with it, and for a commander a map case and a pistol holster. It is precisely this silhouette that sets a tank crewman apart from an infantryman and is the main reason why crews are bought separately instead of general infantry.
Before you start painting, sand the seams where the parts join; in a large scale every unworked joint is conspicuous. The coverall is usually in a gray-blue to khaki tone and does not take overly rich shades, because the period cloth was faded and dusty. Build the helmet up from a dark base, bring out the ribs with dry-brushing and dust the edges gently with pigment so that it looks worn. Leave the face until last, so that you do not dust it while weathering.
