A sizable injection-molded plastic model of the American carrier fighter Grumman F-14B Tomcat in 1:32 scale from the production of the brand Trumpeter. The large scale captures both the bulk of the aircraft and rich detail; the package holds photo-etched parts for the seat harnesses, metal landing gear legs of zinc alloy, rubber tires and a rich load of underwing stores. The decals cover several variants of finish.
The F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier fighter of the US Navy with swing wings, whose angle changes in flight according to speed. The F-14B version was given more powerful General Electric F110 engines in place of the original powerplants of the A version, which improved both performance and reliability; in later service it also gained the ability to attack ground targets precisely (hence the nickname Bombcat). The Tomcat operated from the decks of aircraft carriers as an air superiority fighter and a carrier of long-range guided missiles.
Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic, and the photo-etched and metal parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Finish and paint the extensive cockpits of both crew members and the landing gear bays before closing the airframe up; mask the glazing. Apply a primer before painting, spray the gray naval schemes with an airbrush in thin coats and bring the panel lines out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
