1:32 Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIA/Mk.IIB of Czechoslovak pilots (Nos.1, 32, 310 & 312 Sq. RAF)

Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIA/IIB - Czechoslovak RAF pilots (1:32, DK Decals)

This is a decal set (waterslide decals), not an aircraft kit. The sheet brings markings and national insignia for the Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIA and Mk.IIB as flown in the Second World War by Czechoslovak pilots in the ranks of the Royal Air Force - among others in No. 1, No. 32, No. 310 and No. 312 Squadrons. The set is made by DK Decals, a Czech decal specialist focused on Czechoslovak airmen. The decals are applied to a finished, painted Hurricane model in 1:32 scale.

The real subject

The Hawker Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter; the Mk.II version received the more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine and heavier armament. The Czech and Slovak airmen who left to fight with the RAF after 1939 were among its successful pilots as early as the Battle of Britain and in the years that followed.

How to use the set

• Apply the decals onto a finished coat of varnish, ideally onto a gloss base - the decal then adheres better and no silvering bubbles form.
• Cut the item out, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and slide it off the backing into place.
• Adjust the position, blot off the excess water and use a decal softener to settle it into the detail.
• Once dry, seal it with a matte or semi-gloss coat to match the surface of the model.

Who the set is for

• For modelers building the Hurricane in 1:32 scale who want to finish the model in the colors of a particular Czechoslovak airman in the RAF.
• For collectors interested in the Czechoslovak forces abroad and the history of RAF squadrons.

This is a decal set, not a model. The aircraft kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
