About product

The Battle of Kursk set in 1:35 scale (ICM)

This is not a single model but a combined set: according to the name it contains a kit of the T-34-76 tank in the early 1943 production version, a kit of the Pak 36(r) anti-tank gun and four crew figures. Packages of this kind are released by the Ukrainian brand ICM as themed sets that bring together equipment and figures suited to a single diorama. Everything is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as injection-molded plastic sprues; the number of parts and the extent of the decal sheet are given in the instructions in the box. The set is placed in the summer fighting of 1943 on the Eastern Front.

The real subject

The T-34-76 was a medium tank with sloped armor, wide tracks and a 76 mm gun; the version from the beginning of 1943 differed from the earlier series in details of the turret, the vision ports and the layout of the tanks. Pak 36(r) was the designation of an anti-tank gun created by converting a captured Soviet 76.2 mm gun to German ammunition and with a modified barrel assembly; it served as an anti-tank weapon. Both weapon systems belonged to the same period and the 1:35 scale makes it possible to build them in their mutual proportion.

Building and painting tips

Proceed in units: first the running gear and the hull of the tank, then the carriage and the barrel of the gun, the figures at the very end. Paint the running gear and the lower hull before you fit the tracks and the fenders, because later you will not reach there with a brush. On the figures clean up the mold seams and the joints on the arms. Painting: a primer, the base shade with an airbrush, a wash in the recesses, a dry brush on the edges and finally dust and mud with pigments from below. The gun has thin components in the shield and the sight — dry-fit them first and only then glue them permanently. The particular shade codes can be found in the instructions.

Who the set is for

  • modelers who build dioramas and want equipment and figures in one package
  • anyone interested in military equipment of the Second World War in 1:35 scale
  • builders who want to compare a tank and an anti-tank gun in the same scale

The models are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

An anti-tank gun created by converting a captured Soviet 76.2 mm gun to German ammunition and with a modified barrel assembly.

Yes, that is exactly what themed sets are for. The equipment and the figures are in the same scale and from the same period, so they can be set into a single scene.
