An imitation of a canvas cover in 1:35 scale for a model of a German military vehicle, the first item of a line.
Responsibility details are not available.
Canvas covers belonged to the equipment of military vehicles as much as a matter of course as jerrycans or shovels. They protected the load, the vehicle and the crew from rain and dust and were pulled over the cargo bed, the cab and the equipment stowed outside. On a model a cover is rewarding for two reasons: it breaks up the regular shape of a vehicle and at the same time gives away that somebody uses the machine. But forming it from putty or from a handkerchief soaked in glue is work that either comes off or spoils a model for good, because a hardened mass can no longer be rearranged.
A finished shape of a canvas cover in 1:35 scale with sag and folds, which only has to be seated on a model. The uncertain part of the work is done away with and the result is predictable. The designation first item says that this is the opening piece of a line of covers. Which kit and exactly which place on a vehicle it belongs to are given by the instructions enclosed with the product.
Cut away surplus material with a sharp blade a short distance from the part and sand the remainder. Seat the part dry first and check that it beds down over its whole surface; level out any play by sanding rather than by pressing, so that the cover does not settle crooked. Before painting, wash and degrease it and use a base coat. Cyanoacrylate glue suits the gluing. Canvas looks credible if, after the base shade, you go over it with lighter drybrushing, which accentuates the edges of the folds, and underlay the folds themselves with a darker wash.
For builders of military vehicles and for makers of dioramas. The cover is the subject of the delivery. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
