An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Feldküche field kitchen in 1:35 scale from ICM. It is a completely new mold and, according to the manufacturer, the package contains cook figures besides the kitchen itself. The model is aimed at support and rear-area scenes, where the field kitchen was an important part of the soldiers' everyday life.
The Feldküche field kitchen was standard equipment of the German army in the Second World War and served to prepare hot food directly in the field. The Wehrmacht used several sizes, from smaller ones for a few dozen men to large coppers for whole units. Its characteristic smoking chimney and large boiler made it an unmistakable feature of rear-area columns and resting units. In the field the towed kitchen moved along behind the unit and made it possible to prepare a hot meal even on the march, so it was an important part of the soldiers' daily life and their morale.
Use thin cement for plastic and separate the small parts carefully. It is best to paint the inner parts and the boiler before you close the assembly up. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paints down with an airbrush. Dark washes, soot around the chimney and fine rust look good on the metal parts. The cook figures and the accessories help to create a lively rear-area scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
