An injection-molded plastic kit of the German 3.7 cm Flak 37 anti-aircraft gun on the self-propelled mount of the Sd.Kfz.7/2 half-track tractor, in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. It is a large, finely broken-down kit, and besides the plastic the box holds several photo-etched frets, rubber tires and a Sd.Anhanger 52 ammunition trailer.
The eight-ton Sd.Kfz.7 half-track tractor served the Wehrmacht both as a general artillery tractor and as a carrier for anti-aircraft weapons. In the Sd.Kfz.7/2 version it carried the quick-firing 3.7 cm Flak 37 anti-aircraft gun on drop sides, and the gun could fire on the move as well as from a prepared position. The combination of good cross-country mobility and effective fire made it a valuable mobile air-defense weapon. It was built from 1942 until the end of the war.
With vehicles it pays to finish and paint the running gear, the engine and the mount with its drop sides before you close the assembly up. Use liquid cement for the plastic and super glue for the photo-etched parts. Prime the model before painting and spray it with an airbrush. The German dark yellow scheme with blotches comes to life nicely with weathering: dark washes bring out the rivets and panel lines, while dust and mud pigments on the tracks, wheels and lower hull give the assembly its authenticity.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
