An injection-molded plastic model of the American GMC truck carrying the 40 mm Bofors anti-aircraft gun, in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a combination of a truck chassis and an anti-aircraft weapon; the box contains a detailed chassis and drivetrain, a fitted-out cab, the firing platform of the gun, photo-etched parts and decals.
The American GMC CCKW series truck was one of the most widespread Allied supply vehicles of the Second World War. Some of the trucks were converted to carry the 40 mm Bofors anti-aircraft gun, which created a mobile anti-aircraft weapon able to fire quickly at low-flying targets. This combination saw use, among other places, in the fighting in Western Europe, where it added to the air defense of units on the march and in position.
On this vehicle it pays to assemble and paint the chassis, the drivetrain, the interior of the cab and the gun mounting before the assembly is closed up. Glue the plastic parts with a liquid modeling cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting and spray the olive drab with an airbrush in thin coats. Weathering comes from dark washes in the recesses and from pigments for mud and dust effects on the chassis, the wheels and the mounting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
