An injection-molded plastic kit of the Israeli main battle tank Merkava Mk.IV fitted with the Trophy active protection system, in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The model is built around a slide-molded upper and lower hull and turret, individual track links and photo-etched parts.
The Merkava Mk.IV is the latest version of the Israeli main battle tank and entered service with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the first decade of the 21st century. It is distinguished by its front-mounted engine, which shields the crew, by heavy armor and by modern electronics. Trophy is an active protection system (APS) that uses radar to detect incoming anti-tank guided missiles and grenades and destroys them shortly before impact – it substantially raises the tank's chances of survival on the battlefield.
With armored vehicles, assemble and if possible paint the running gear before you close the hull. Bond the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched pieces with super glue. The intricate sensors and units of the Trophy system and the slat armor call for careful work. For the patina use washes in the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the running gear and the lower hull; finish with a matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
