Lithokraft 1:35 Kettenwerkzeugkasten — track tool box for the Panzer III is a resin accessory for a build. It replaces the simplified plastic box with a part that has fine detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a small add-on set, not a model of the vehicle. To a build of the Panzer III in 1:35 scale it adds the box in which German vehicles carried the tools for maintaining the tracks. The resin part has finer drawing of the sheet metal, the hinges and the catches than injection molding can achieve, and it is therefore visible even under paint.
A tracked vehicle needs its own tools to change a link and a pin: a pin extractor, wrenches and spare pins. German tanks had a separate sheet-metal box for them, which German calls a Kettenwerkzeugkasten. On the Panzer III it was carried on the outer faces of the hull and the fenders, where it was at hand while driving. The box is a detail that modelers often overlook, and yet without it a build looks like a museum exhibit without its equipment, and it is the equipment that gives a vehicle its period character.
Separate the part from the print supports, level the seating face and dry-fit the box before gluing. Glue resin with cyanoacrylate glue, as cement for plastic does not attack it. Apply a primer before painting. Paint the box separately and seat it on the finished hull; darken the gaps around the hinges with a wash and lift the lugs of the lid with a dry brush or by rubbing with graphite, so that it reads as used sheet metal.
This is an add-on set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
