This kit from Hobby Boss captures the German military truck designated LKW 10t mil gl. The abbreviations in the designation come from German military terminology: LKW means truck, the figure 10t gives the payload category and the abbreviation mil gl marks the military off-road version. The model complements the whole family of military trucks the same manufacturer has in its program - the five-ton, the seven-ton and this ten-ton version stand side by side.
This is a heavy three-axle off-road truck used by the German army to carry cargo, containers and materiel across terrain that an ordinary road vehicle cannot cross. A characteristic feature of this family of vehicles is the angular cab set over the front axle and a rugged frame with long wheel travel. The name gives neither the specific maker of the chassis nor the year of introduction.
On trucks the frame takes the most work: the axles, the gearbox, the exhaust and the air system are done before the underside is closed up, and it is a good idea to paint them before the cab and the cargo bed come near. Spray the cab and the body separately and join them only after the base coat. The large flat areas of the tarpaulin or the cargo bed take a light lightening in the middle of each panel, which prevents the impression of a flat toy. Leave the tires in a matte shade and dust them only in the lower part, where dirt collects. The wheel arches, the frame and the lower part of the cab are the places where weathering has the greatest effect: fine mud first, then dust and finally a dry highlight on the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
