About product

The real subject

The Panzer II was a German light tank with which the Wehrmacht went through the first years of the war. Its powertrain layout was typically German: the engine at the rear, but the drive sprockets at the front. A shaft therefore ran the whole length of the hull forward to the transmission casing, which, together with the steering, took up a considerable amount of room in the front of the fighting compartment right next to the driver. It is exactly this part of the machine that stays invisible on a closed model, and yet it looks more interesting than most of the external surface.

What the set contains

Add-on parts of the transmission in 1:35 scale for a Panzer II model. They make sense wherever the hull can be looked into: on a build with the front plate hinged open, with open hatches, on a cutaway hull or on a damaged vehicle in a diorama.

  • The transmission of the Panzer II in 1:35 scale
  • An accessory for a model, not a standalone kit
  • Suitable for builds with an open front part of the hull
  • It also comes in useful on a cutaway hull and on a wreck in a diorama

Building and painting tips

Cut away surplus material with a sharp blade a short distance from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the crisp edges of the casing are preserved. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and check the particular procedure in the manufacturer's instructions. Try the fit of the part in the hull dry before you glue anything, because the interior differs between kits. When painting, a dark wash into the corners, a fine dry brush along the edges and finally traces of use help, that is grease around the joints and wear in the places that were handled. Choose the interior shades according to the documentation for the version you are building.

Who it is for

For modelers who build the Panzer II with an open hull or want to show what is inside. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
