Injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-55 medium tank in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the early variant of the end of the 1950s with its characteristic low hemispherical turret and smooth hull. The package contains finely broken-up plastic parts with a faithful impression of welds and rivets; the turret rotates.
The T-55 was the direct development continuation of the T-54 tank and became one of the most widespread and longest-used tanks of all. It brought a more powerful engine, a greater fuel capacity and NBC protection for the crew. The 100 mm D-10 gun stayed, while the anti-aircraft machine gun cupola on the roof disappeared. The real vehicle is characterized by a low silhouette, simple maintenance and great endurance in the most varied climatic conditions, thanks to which it served all over the world.
Work from the running gear and the lower hull, then finish the hull and the turret. Use a thin cement for plastic, apply a primer before varnishing and spray the paints with an airbrush. On a uniform green finish it helps to break the surface up with gentle modulation of the shades and then to bring out the detail with dark washes. Dust and mud pigments on the running gear and the sides of the hull give a realistic patina.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
