An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-62 medium tank with blocks of explosive reactive armor in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the Mod. 1962 configuration with a layer of reactive armor added to the hull and the turret.
The T-62 was developed as a continuation of the proven T-55, from which it took over a number of running gear and powerplant elements. The main differences were a lengthened hull, a new turret and above all the 115 mm smoothbore gun, one of the first smoothbore tank weapons. The add-on explosive reactive armor (ERA) increased protection against shaped-charge ammunition and is a typical feature of the later upgrades.
Assemble the running gear before you close up the hull; the individual blocks of reactive armor also deserve attention. The vehicle looks its best with a layered airbrush coat, a wash into the details and dust or mud pigments. The broken-up surface of the armor is rewarding for bringing out the edges with a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
