An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet BA-20M light armored car in 1:35 scale from the brand Hobby Boss. The model complements a range in which the same manufacturer also lists the earlier BA-20 form.
The BA-20 was based on the GAZ-M1 passenger car and was a typical light reconnaissance armored car of the 1930s: two axles, thin armor and a single machine gun in the turret. The version marked M received a modified conical turret, a strengthened mounting and other small changes. The vehicles served with reconnaissance units and staffs, and some of them carried radio equipment. They were deployed at Khalkhin Gol, in the Winter War with Finland and in the first months of the fighting in 1941, where they had nothing left to answer armored vehicles with and were used mainly for liaison and reconnaissance.
The model is small, so it pays to cut the parts off cleanly and to make sure all four wheels stand level. Finish the chassis and the frame before the hull goes on. The thin plates come out well after the joints are sanded and after primer, which reveals any unevenness. Over the base green use a dark wash in the engraving and a fine emphasis on the edges, and concentrate the mud and dust effects around the wheels and the fenders.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
