An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet heavy tank KV-8S in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The box contains hull and turret parts, individual link tracks, a clear plastic part and a photo-etched fret; for the exact number of parts, go by the instructions.
The KV-8S is the flamethrower version of the lightened Soviet heavy tank KV-1S, in which an ATO-42 flamethrower, an improved version of the earlier ATO-41, was built into the turret alongside the machine gun. Compared with the early KV-8 it was based on the lighter and more mobile KV-1S chassis. It was used to destroy fortifications and infantry and is one of the specialized variants of Soviet heavy tank equipment.
The individual link tracks call for patience; finish the running gear before you close the hull. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic, even the base out with a primer and lay the color on with an airbrush. The broad surfaces come to life with washes in the recesses and dust pigments, and the model looks its best in an Eastern Front diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
