This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss captures the Soviet MBV-2 armored motorized railcar. It is neither a conventional tank nor a truck but a rail-borne fighting vehicle that moved under its own power and needed no locomotive.
The MBV-2 was an armored motorized railcar built in the second half of the 1930s. Unlike ordinary armored trains, where the fighting cars are hauled by a steam locomotive, it had power of its own and could operate independently. It carried three rotating gun turrets with 76.2 mm guns backed up by machine guns, so in firepower it matched several tanks at once. The turrets and the guns were derived from tank practice and the armament was reworked during its service. During the Second World War the vehicle served at Leningrad and on the Karelian Isthmus, where it used the dense rail network for fast moves between threatened sectors.
The long body of the car needs straight support while drying, or the assembly will warp. Finish the bogies and the running gear before you close up the sides. Leave the turrets free to rotate and fit them only after painting. An even coat of base green with modulation on the large areas suits the whole, so that they do not look flat. Concentrate the rust and dust on the running gear, the couplings and the lower edge of the body, that is, where most of the dirt collects on rail equipment. The model looks good on a piece of track used as a base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
