Tank Crew of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a figure set by the Ukrainian maker ICM in 1:35 scale with the crew of a tank of the armed forces of Ukraine.
Responsibility details are not available.
A figure set from ICM, a Ukrainian maker based in Kyiv. The subject follows on from the wider group of contemporary Ukrainian themes the brand releases; the crew of a Leopard 2 tank, for instance, has come out from the same maker. The 1:35 scale matches the models of ground machinery the set is meant to go with.
The crew of a tank is made up of the commander, the gunner and the driver, and on machines without automatic loading the loader as well. Each has his own working position and his equipment matches it: a headset with earphones and a microphone, overalls adapted to a cramped space, a load-carrying system and protective items. Part of the work goes on inside the vehicle, part outside – during maintenance, replenishing ammunition or getting one's bearings in the terrain, when the tank commander looks out of the turret. The figures capture exactly those situations, in which the crew is outside the closed space and the viewer therefore sees them.
Contemporary camouflage patterns are small and in 1:35 they are easily overcrowded. It pays to work with muted contrast and to suggest rather than draw in every patch. Paint the headsets, straps and pouches separately once the base coat has dried, otherwise the small elements are lost. For exact patterns and markings go by photographs of the particular unit, because practice differs from one machine to the next.
