Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Tu-143 unmanned reconnaissance vehicle in the rendition for television reconnaissance. The Ukrainian brand Clear Prop Models issues it in the variant designated Advanced, that is, in the richer of the two levels of equipment it has released for this type. The 1:35 scale matches ordinary display subjects, so the model fits in well among armored vehicles and artillery.
The machine was created in the seventies in the Tupolev design bureau as a solution to the problem of how to obtain pictures over enemy territory without risk to a crew. It was launched from a lifting ramp on a truck chassis with the help of a rocket booster, flew along a preset route at low altitude and, once the task was fulfilled, came down on a parachute. While the photo-reconnaissance rendition brought its material back on film, the version with television equipment passed the picture on over a radio channel, so the command saw the situation practically at once. The type was produced in large numbers and served for a long time after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The shape of the fuselage is simple, and all the more does the cleanliness of the filling and an even finish stand out on the completed piece. We recommend sanding the joints down once they have cured and polishing the surface before the decals. The metal areas around the exhaust outlet can be brought to life with a light graphite tinge, but keep the overall patina restrained, because equipment with a short service life is not supposed to be wrecked.
The kit is sold as unassembled plastic; paints, glue and accessories are not included.
