A set of workable individual track links of the T156 type in 1:35 scale. It is not a tank model but an accessory with which the tracks supplied in the basic kit are replaced. The individual links are put together into a continuous run that stays movable, so it can be given a natural track sag over the road wheels on the model and wrapped around the drive sprocket. That is the main reason modelers reach for individual track links: a rubber or soft track tends to be flat and does not look convincing in a sag.
T156 is a type of track with rubber pads used on the American M1 and M1A1 Abrams tanks and on the South Korean K1 tank. Rubber pads spare the road surface and cut down the noise, but they wear out, so on a real machine they tend to be markedly worn down and clogged with mud, and the individual links differ from one another in color and in surface. It is exactly this unevenness that can be brought out well on a model with workable tracks.
Clean the flash and the mold parting seams off the links carefully while they are still on the sprue. Putting them together is a long job, so assemble the run in longer sections and keep checking the overall length against the running gear of the model. It is more convenient to paint the tracks separately from the hull: first a dark undercoat, then metallic highlights by drybrushing on the edges of the pads and the guide horns, and finally dust and mud pigments. At the end, lightly rub the running surfaces on which the track rests on the ground with graphite or polish them with a metallic pigment.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the basic model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
