Equipment of American tanks of the Second World War in 1:35 scale adds crates, tarpaulins and the crew's personal belongings to a model of an Allied vehicle.

Behind the front, American tanks turned into mobile stores, and that is exactly what this set from the Italian manufacturer Royal Model is about. The resin castings represent crates, bags, rolled tarpaulins and other material that crews strapped to the hull and the turret. The set is not a kit of a vehicle; it is added to a finished model.
Anyone looking at photographs from Normandy or the Ardennes will notice that under a layer of crates and sleeping bags the vehicle itself is barely visible. A crew carried supplies for several days, spare ammunition, cans and personal kit; often sandbags or pieces of wood were added as improvised protection. Without all that, a model looks too clean.
First free the castings of mold release agent and separate the casting remains with a saw. Then choose a muted olive as the base tone, but set the individual pieces apart from each other: a new crate is a different light shade from a soaked tarpaulin. Canvas benefits from a light dry brush drawing out the folds, and leather will take a brown glaze. Right at the end comes a common layer of dust, which ties everything together with the vehicle.
The vehicle, paints and glue are not part of the delivery. Try the layout dry beforehand, so that you do not cover hatches you want to have open.
