A double-sided mask by Clear Prop Models 1:48 Gloster E28/39 Pioneer for covering the glazing from the outside and from the inside.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set in 1:48 scale for a model of the first British jet aircraft. Double-sided means that the masking is worked out for the outer as well as the inner face of the glazing: the inside of the frame then stays in the cockpit color and the outside gets the camouflage shade. The set comes from Clear Prop Models. A plastic model is not part of it.
The Gloster E28/39, nicknamed Pioneer, was a British experimental aircraft built to prove jet propulsion to Frank Whittle's design. It first flew in May 1941 and became the first British aircraft with a jet engine. It was a small single-seat machine with nose landing gear and a short fuselage, in which the engine took up practically the whole rear space. Only two prototypes were built and the type never went into production.
Place the inner shapes before you lower the canopy onto the fuselage, otherwise you will no longer reach them. Apply the outer masking only after a dry test and press the edges down carefully with a soft tool. Leave enough time between coats of paint for them to set, because haste shows up as seepage under the edge. Protect the clear part from dust in the meantime.
The mask completes a kit that has to be obtained separately.
