An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Oyashio class submarine in 1:700 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a simple submarine model with a low number of parts, a full hull and a pre-finished display base. It suits a quick build and an addition to a collection of modern vessels.
The Oyashio class are conventionally powered diesel-electric attack submarines of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, entering service from the end of the nineties. They are notable for the move to flank sonar arrays and a forward torpedo tube section, and they carry torpedoes as well as anti-ship guided missiles. They serve in anti-submarine and patrol roles.
Glue the hull together and sand the joints of both halves down carefully, so that the parting line disappears. The smooth surface of a submarine will appreciate a good base coat and an airbrush in a dark shade; bring the transitions and the details out with a fine wash. The model can be displayed on the supplied base as if afloat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
