An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet missile-carrying submarine of the Typhoon class in the small 1:700 scale from Hobby Boss. According to the manufacturer the model can be built full-hull on a stand or waterline, and it offers retracted and raised sensors and forward diving planes. A stand with a printed plate and decals are included. The exact contents of the package are not stated here.
The Typhoon (Soviet designation Project 941 Akula) is the largest submarine ever built and one of the most feared assets of the Cold War. It was a strategic missile-carrying submarine with nuclear power, carrying intercontinental ballistic missiles launched from the hull. The lead boat entered service at the start of the 1980s, and the massive hull with several pressure hulls side by side allowed the submarine long patrols under the ice.
Glue the upper and lower parts of the hull with thin cement for plastic and sand the seam thoroughly — on such a large smooth flank the line is easily seen. Decide on a full-hull build on the stand or a waterline one. Paint the underside in an anti-fouling color and the rest in dark gray or black. Add the sail, the periscopes and the fine detail of the extensive deck at the end, fit the sensors in the position you want and even the surface out with a matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
