This is not a kit or masks but a stand-alone decal sheet in 1:72 scale for a model of the British experimental Gloster E.28/39 Pioneer aircraft. The decals are of the classic wet type: the trimmed motif is soaked in water, the backing softens and the colored film slides off it onto the model. The set is intended to complete or replace the markings on a finished kit of this machine.
The Gloster E.28/39 was the first British aircraft with a jet engine. It came about to a specification that called for an airborne test bed for the new form of propulsion, and it was a small single-seat all-metal low-wing monoplane with nose gear and the engine housed in the fuselage behind the pilot. It was not a combat machine but an experiment that proved the viability of jet propulsion in British practice. The result was an unobtrusive, practically entirely smooth surface, so on a model the quality of the finish and the accuracy of the markings stand out.
