The pre-cut double-sided mask 1:72 Meteor F.8/FR.9 from Clear Prop Models covers the cockpit glazing outside and inside and takes in both of the named versions at once.
Responsibility details are not available.
The masking sheet is die-cut from yellow kabuki paper and carries pieces for both sides of the cockpit glazing. One package covers two versions of the aircraft at once, because both have the canopy and the windscreen laid out the same way.
The Gloster Meteor was the only Allied jet aircraft that got into the fighting of the Second World War. The F.8 version of the late 1940s was its ultimate day fighter rendering: it received a lengthened fuselage, a reworked fin and rudder and an ejection seat. The reconnaissance FR.9 came straight from it, only carrying cameras in a lengthened nose in place of part of the armament. That is exactly why both versions are dealt with together in models and in masks alike.
Rice paper has a soft fiber and a weak adhesive, so it holds where it is needed but leaves no residue once peeled off. Take a piece out of the sheet with pointed tweezers, lay it down and only then press it from the center toward the edges. Use the inner set before the fuselage is closed. Apply the paint in thin coats; a heavy coat is apt to creep under the edge and spoil the sharp line of a frame.
The package holds only the masking sheet, not a model or paints.
