This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter represents the German Sd.Kfz.184 Ferdinand heavy tank destroyer. The model is built from plastic parts, and photo-etched parts and decals are usually included in the box. Check the exact package contents and the number of parts against the particular edition.
The Ferdinand was a heavy tank destroyer built on a chassis developed for the Tiger tank in the design by Ferdinand Porsche. The vehicle carried a heavily armored superstructure with a long 88 mm gun barrel and was first committed in larger numbers at the Battle of Kursk in 1943. Thanks to its massive armor and strong armament it was a feared opponent at long range, but it was heavy and not very mobile.
On a tank destroyer it is advisable to assemble the complex running gear carefully and to fine-tune the hull before fitting the superstructure. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement, apply a primer and spray the paints with an airbrush. Weathering, dust and any anti-magnetic coating can be brought out with suitable techniques, washes and pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
