An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Sd.Kfz.250/1 light half-track armored personnel carrier in the late Ausf.B (Neue Ausführung) form in 1:72 scale from Special Armour. It is a short-run kit of Czech origin aimed at collectors of small scales. The late neue Ausführung hull has a simplified shape with flatter armor plates that were quicker and cheaper to produce, and it is typical of vehicles from production from the autumn of 1943 on. The Sd.Kfz.250 was a German light half-track armored personnel carrier built on the chassis of the one-ton Sd.Kfz.10 tractor. It served mainly with reconnaissance and escort units to carry small crews and light armament. The 250/1 version in the infantry carrier role was the most common form of the whole family. The late Neue Ausführung type received a simplified hull for easier production; these vehicles appeared at the front in the second half of the war, where they performed liaison, reconnaissance and escort duties.
With a short-run kit, check the fit of the parts and clean off any flash before gluing with a thin plastic cement. Paint and assemble the running gear and the hull interior before you close the hull. Apply a primer and the paint with an airbrush, and put the decals on over a gloss coat. Create the weathering with a wash running into the recesses and with pigments for mud and dust effects on the running gear.
