A SPACE set for the Spitfire Mk.I in 1:72 scale. 3D decals of the instrument panels and steel seat belts for Eduard kits.

A set from the SPACE range for the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I fighter in 1:72 scale, cut to fit Eduard plastic kits. This is not an airplane kit but a cockpit accessory: 3D decals with relief and color printing replace painting the instruments by hand, and photo-etched steel seat belts are added to them.
The Spitfire Mk.I was the first production form of the legendary fighter and in the summer of 1940, together with the Hurricane, it made up the backbone of the defense of British airspace. It had eight machine guns of 7.7 millimeters in the wing and a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. In 1:72 scale the cockpit is small, so painting legible dial faces by hand is a superhuman task and a finished decal does more work here than any other accessory.
Spray the surfaces in a dark shade and let them cure. Release the decal in water, seat it and press it down gently with a cotton swab. Do not use a decal softener; it would attack the printed resin. Bend the steel belts over the edge of a ruler and fix them with a tiny drop of super glue. Apply the final matte varnish in a thin coat so that the dial faces are not flooded.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
