The real subject

The Spitfire is among the best known British fighters of the Second World War and is recognized by its wing with a rounded outline. The Mk V version was one of the most numerous in wartime production: it was given a more powerful Merlin V12 and a number of airframe changes thanks to which the machine held its place in the front line even against newer opponents. The letter B in the Mk VB designation refers to the type of wing with mixed armament of cannon and machine guns, that is to the arrangement most often used on this version.

The model

This is a collector's model in 1:72 scale, that is in a size in which a collection of aircraft can be extended without outgrowing the display case. Aircraft of one scale stay comparable with each other, so side by side the difference in span and in the overall proportions of the individual types stands out. Placement and care

Stand the model on a level surface out of direct sunlight, which changes the shade of the paint and of the lettering over time. Wipe dust off with a soft brush; a cloth catches on the propeller, on the pitot tube and on other thin protrusions. Solvents and cleaning agents do not belong on the surface. When handling the model, take it by the fuselage, never by the propeller or by the wingtips.
