The Super Etendard is a French carrier-based attack aircraft with a single jet engine, intended for operation from aircraft carriers. It followed on from the older machine of the Etendard series and served with the French as well as the Argentine naval aviation. It is best known for its ability to carry anti-ship guided missiles, on account of which it was counted on even against targets considerably larger than its own dimensions would suggest.
The frames of the canopy are so narrow in 1:72 scale that you will hardly draw them straight with a brush, and the paint easily runs out of them onto the area of the glazing. Pre-cut self-adhesive masks take care of this part of the work for you: they are stuck in place and the transition between the paint and the clear part stays sharp along its whole length. According to the name the set is cut for the kit from the brand Academy; it need not fit on the parts of another manufacturer, because the shape of the canopy differs from one to another.
First wash and degrease the clear part, so that the mask holds, and let it dry properly. Stick the masks on before spraying and press their edges down with a toothpick, otherwise paint will get underneath. Apply thin coats and let the surface set between them: a heavy application creeps under an edge far more readily. Once the paint has dried, take the masks off with tweezers and do not leave them on the model for long weeks. Wipe any adhesive residue off with a clean cloth, or with a swab moistened in a product that, according to its manufacturer, does not attack the clear part.
A masking set is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
