USMC LAV-R 1:72 from Trumpeter — an injection-molded plastic kit of the eight-wheeled recovery and repair vehicle of the US Marine Corps.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the LAV-R recovery vehicle of the US Marine Corps in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. It is not the turreted combat version but an eight-wheeled vehicle adapted for recovering and repairing equipment in the field. The package consists of injection-molded plastic on several sprues together with the wheels and illustrated instructions.
The LAV-R is the recovery and repair variant of the eight-wheeled family of light armored vehicles LAV used by the US Marine Corps. Instead of a weapon turret it carries a crane, a winch and recovery equipment with which the crew tows and repairs damaged wheeled vehicles right in the field. The chassis is the same as on the combat versions, so the vehicle keeps its high mobility and amphibious capability. The LAV-R accompanies light armored vehicle units and keeps them running during deployment.
First assemble the hull and the running gear with the wheels, and only then finish the crane, the winch and the recovery equipment. Paint the wheels separately, which makes finishing the tires easier. Spray the three-color woodland camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats, give the engraved lines depth with a dark wash, and weather the underside of the vehicle and the working equipment with dust pigments for mud and oil effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
