A clear plastic display case from Master Tools, made to show and protect finished models. The base carries a mirror, so the underside of the model is visible as well: the landing gear and stores on aircraft, the exhaust and chassis parts on cars. The cover protects the model from dust, rough handling and scuffing, which matters a great deal on painted and weathered models, because dust cannot be removed safely once it has settled on the surface.
The elongated shape, over half a meter long and just under fifteen centimeters wide, suits longer and narrower subjects in particular: ships, railway artillery, aircraft placed along the axis of the case, or a group of smaller models lined up one behind another. Always measure your model including the most protruding parts, such as antennas, barrels or rotor blades, and compare them with the external dimensions of the case. The internal space is somewhat smaller than the external dimensions given.
The case on its own will not stop dust completely if it stands loose on an uneven surface. It pays to put it on a smooth surface and to fix the model inside with double-sided tape or modeling putty, so that it does not shift and scuff its painted edges while being carried. The clear walls scratch easily, so wipe them only with a soft cloth and never dry when there is coarse dust on them.
The display case does not include a model. Clean the clear walls with a soft cloth and a product intended for plastics; ordinary glass cleaners containing ammonia can dull the surface.
