An injection-molded plastic kit of the amphibious combat vehicle ACV in the personnel version. According to the manufacturer the box contains plastic sprues, clear parts, photo-etched sheet, rubber tires, a turned metal barrel part and metal parts of the remote weapon station, and decals for several marking variants. The rear ramp can be built open or closed, the breakwater folded or raised, and the side louvers reveal the engine bay. Check the contents on the box.
The ACV is a wheeled amphibious 8x8 vehicle that the United States Marine Corps is bringing into service as a replacement for the tracked AAV7 carriers used since the 1970s. It grew out of a chassis of Italian design and entered service in 2020. The personnel version ACV-P carries landing troops alongside the crew and mounts a remote weapon station with a heavy machine gun or an automatic grenade launcher. Its range over water as well as over land makes it a machine for a landing and the subsequent push inland.
Glue the plastic with thin polystyrene cement, and the photo-etched and metal parts with super glue. Finish the engine bay and the interior behind the ramp before you close up the hull. A modern vehicle will take restrained weathering; a dusty deposit on the wheel arches and salt or lime stains on the underside suit it better than heavy rust.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
